Production

Lilly the Witch's first two seasons were a co-production between Trixter Productions in Germany, Vivatoon (Hector) Inc. in Canada, and Magma Films in Ireland. Seven years after season two ended, a third season debuted in Germany on 26 September 2014. This season was produced by Trixter Entertainment in Germany, Dor Film in Austria, and AT-Anim in Belgium, with co-production support from Westdeutscher Rundfunk, ARD, and Trixter Productions in Germany, ORF in Austria, and Umedia in Belgium. The earlier seasons employed a simplified, traditional cel animation style, while the third season switched to a more detailed digital look using Flash animation. Because the production studios changed, most of the crew was replaced, and Lilly's character design was updated to more closely resemble her appearance in the original books.
