Glen Wesley

Wesley was drafted third overall by the Boston Bruins in 1987 from the Portland Winter Hawks. He reached the Stanley Cup Final twice with Boston (1988, 1990), losing both times to the Edmonton Oilers. He was traded to the Hartford Whalers prior to the 1994–95 season for three first-round picks. He moved with the Whalers to Carolina in 1997. He reached the Stanley Cup Final with Carolina in 2002 (lost to Detroit) and won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006, ending a streak of 169 playoff games without a championship. His number 2 jersey was retired by the Hurricanes in 2009. After playing, he worked as director of player development for the Hurricanes (2008–2018) and became a development coach with the St. Louis Blues in 2018.

Wesley played defence. He wore number 2 for most of his NHL career (retired by Carolina) and number 26 with Toronto. He never wore number 24. He played for the Boston Bruins, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Toronto Maple Leafs—never for the Buffalo Sabres.

Did You Know?

• Wesley is the only player to have played in each of the Hurricanes' first 10 seasons after the team relocated to North Carolina.
