Premise

Young female contestants live together for weeks, taking part in challenges, photo shoots, and meetings with modelling industry members. One contestant is eliminated each week until the last remaining wins the title and a modelling contract. Elle Macpherson described the show as uniquely British in humour and styling.

Format

Each series has ten to fourteen episodes and begins with twelve to fourteen contestants. One contestant is eliminated per episode, though double eliminations or no eliminations occur by panel consensus. Series 6 had a live finale with a public vote. Fearne Cotton narrated most series; Dawn Porter replaced her for series 9, and Annaliese Dayes took over on Lifetime. From series 9, multiple contestants were in danger of elimination each week. The series 9 panel included Elle Macpherson, Tyson Beckford, and Dannii Minogue. Earlier panels included Lisa Butcher, Marie Helvin, Paula Hamilton, Huggy Ragnarsson, Jonathan Phang, Gerry DeVeaux, Louis Mariette, Julien Macdonald, and Charley Speed. For series 8, it was reported that Grace Woodward would leave and Kelly Osbourne would join, but later Charley Speed and Woodward left, replaced by Tyson Beckford and Whitney Port. Guest judges appear weekly.

Cycles

In 2012, seven past BNTM contestants appeared on Cycle 18 of America's Next Top Model. Cycles 1 and 7 were unrepresented. In 2014, cycle 7 runner-up Juste Juozapaityte participated in Top Model po-russki's fifth cycle, finishing second.
