Episodes
The first episode aired on 27 December 1990, following the same format as Fifteen to One but with the Barry Cryer rule: contestants who missed both questions in round one could still play round two with one life remaining. Barry Cryer was the only contestant to miss both questions and also became the first eliminated. The programme ran 45 minutes instead of 30, with an extra advert inserted between the first and second rounds. A second celebrity special aired on 30 December 1992. Contestant Marcus Berkmann, who had previously appeared on a civilian episode, wrote in his book that he was asked to appear after Vincent Hanna pulled out, noting that "clearly some barrels had been scraped for this, and [he] was at the bottom of the very last barrel." The winner, Patrick Stoddart, won by stepping back from the rest of the semi-circle, resulting in no one nominating him in round two. This was the last Celebrity Fifteen to One for over twenty years. The show was revived on 20 September 2013 as part of a 1980s night, hosted by Adam Hills, and extended to one hour. The revival did not include the Barry Cryer rule; instead, each incorrect answer in round one cost one life. The number of questions in round three was reduced to 25, and the requirement for three correct answers to start a question or nominate was removed. Prize money was awarded for reaching the final: £1,000 for getting there, £5,000 for second place, and £10,000 for first place plus £1,000 per life remaining and £1,000 for each correct answer after both other finalists were eliminated, plus £100 for every life entered with. Jo Brand won this episode, raising £21,100 for her charity. After the first revival show, Channel 4 announced four more celebrity specials with Hills and twenty daytime episodes with Sandi Toksvig. Subsequent changes included no money for lives left at the end of round two, and the last five questions for the final standing contestant were worth £2,000 each. The winners of these episodes were Josie Long (£25,000), Stephen Mangan and Dave Gorman (both £23,000), and Sian Williams (£22,000), broadcast on 6, 13, 20 and 27 June 2015.
