Cast and characters
Jaylen Barron plays Zoe Phillips, a fifteen-year-old from Los Angeles who goes to her mother's hometown in the UK for the summer. There, she finds a stable and bonds with Raven, the most untamed horse there and the foal of Ruby Dawn. As soon as she arrives at Bright Fields, Zoe makes friends with two riders, Jade and Becky. Freddy Carter is Peter "Pin" Hawthorne, a stable boy and the son of Ted.
The second series reveals he is a duke who inherits money, which he uses to buy Raven and Bright Fields Stables. His own horse is called Elvis. He is one of the boys with a crush on Zoe, and eventually becomes her boyfriend. Navia Robinson plays Rosie Phillips, Zoe's younger sister.
Rosie finds it hard to get used to life in the UK and at the stable, but she does befriend Ben. By the end of series two, she goes back to Los Angeles with Maggie. Manpreet Bambra is Jade Gill, a best friend to both Zoe and Becky who also rides at Bright Fields. In the third series, she gets an honorary letter from David Attenborough after completing a successful project about horses.
Kerry Ingram plays Rebecca "Becky" Sidebottom, another best friend of Zoe and Jade who rides at Bright Fields and is Ben's older sister. She has a part-time job at The Barley Bag Cafe. Together with her brother, she owns a black and white Pinto Gypsy horse named Bob. In series three, she starts a horse club called The Breakfast Club, which includes Aaron, Winnie, and Heather.
For the work they do to keep wild horses safe, she receives a medal. Bruce Herbelin-Earle is Marcus Greenbridge, a popular rider and trainer at Bright Fields who is also Sam's cousin. At the end of the first series, he gets into the academy—the only person from the island to do so—but later drops out. In the third series, he earns his qualification to become a trainer.
Marcus has a romantic past with Mia, and they start a relationship in the third series. Céline Buckens plays Amelia "Mia" MacDonald. Her father provides financial support for Bright Fields in the first two series. She and Zoe clash at first, but by episode nine they become friends.
Mia owns a horse named Firefly. In the third series, she gets thrown from Firefly and develops PTSD around horses. Later, she finds out her father dumped construction waste into the lake, which poisoned both residents and wild horses, and she helps bring him to justice.
