Split Chain were formed in Bristol in 2023 from the remnants of other local bands, including Pushing Daisies, Ursus and Roads to Nowhere. They released their debut single, 'Get Inside', on 14 April 2023, followed by three more singles that year. In 2024, they released three additional singles, a re-worked version of their 2023 single 'Extract' featuring Softcult (renamed '(Re)-Extract'), and a cover of Type O Negative's 'I Don't Wanna Be Me', which they had been performing live. After signing with Epitaph Records in 2024, they announced their debut album Motionblur for 11 July 2025 and a North American tour with Silverstein starting in January 2024. In March 2025, they released a limited vinyl EP called 'SC.001', collecting all seven of their 2023 and 2024 singles (excluding the Softcult collaboration and Type O Negative cover). Leading up to the album, they toured the UK, Europe, and the United States, including a debut headline US tour, and showcased new material at Mystic Festival and Download Festival. By the time of their debut album's release, they had opened for acts including A Day To Remember, Superheaven, Trophy Eyes, Boston Manor, and Thursday.
