Story

Princess Guinevere requests an object, animal, or being she desires, and Arthur agrees to obtain it in return for her hand in marriage. Accompanied by Merlin, he embarks on a quest beset by dangers. He usually reaches his goal, but something ruins its effect, leaving Guinevere displeased. The rebellious knights Sir Launcelot and Sir Martyn share Arthur as a common enemy.

Characters

The show draws on popular Arthurian legend, with characters reflecting 20th-century influences. Arthur, voiced by Rik Mayall, is the king whose disasters drive the plot. Guinevere, voiced by Morwenna Banks, is a bored princess described as 'the Paris Hilton of her generation'; she uses Arthur's desire for her to send him on quests, though she later begins to love him. Merlin, voiced by Matt Lucas, is Arthur's faithful but bumbling servant. Sir Launcelot, voiced by Phil Cornwell, resembles a fusion of James Bond and Terry-Thomas; nursing a childhood grudge, he encourages Arthur's perilous quests to usurp the throne. Lady 'M (Margret) is Arthur's cunning older sister, who also appears as the heroic Sir Margret, aiding townsfolk and occasionally rescuing Arthur and Guinevere. Robin Hood, voiced by Phil Cornwell with a voice based on Tony Blackburn, is a forest-dwelling antagonist whose inclusion is an anachronism but has precedent in Arthurian films.
