The Hollywood Hills are where BoJack Horseman lives in relative obscurity in his mansion at the start of the series, planning a comeback with a tell-all autobiography to be ghostwritten by Diane Nguyen. The show is set mostly in Hollywood, renamed "Hollywoo" early in the first season after the D is stolen from the sign.

Background
The setting comes from the show's origin: after moving to Los Angeles, creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg lived in a friend's house in the Hollywood Hills, in what he called "a glorified closet in a beautiful mansion", and looking out over Hollywood from the deck he felt "simultaneously on top of the world and never more isolated and alone". That feeling became the seed of BoJack Horseman. In the show's world the hills also hold the Hollywoo Hills Super-Max Prison, where Character Actress Margo Martindale is held after helping BoJack fake a bank robbery.
