Mike Ehrmantraut Joins Gus Fring

How a former Philadelphia cop becomes Gus Fring's fixer.

Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia police officer, becomes head of security, fixer and hitman for Gus Fring. In Better Call Saul, Gus first crosses his path after Nacho Varga hires Mike to remove Tuco Salamanca from the Salamanca family's day-to-day business.

Rather than killing Tuco, Mike provokes Tuco into assaulting him in view of the police, which leads to Tuco's arrest. Fearing that Hector Salamanca will learn of it and retaliate against his granddaughter Kaylee and her mother Stacey, Mike prepares to assassinate Hector but is interrupted at the last moment. He traces the interruption to Gus, who explains that he wants to be the one to decide when Hector dies, and encourages Mike to keep disrupting the trucks Hector uses for his ice cream supply business.
