Jimmy McGill Becomes Saul Goodman
The alias Jimmy McGill grows into.
Saul Goodman is the alias of James Morgan "Jimmy" McGill; the name is a play on the phrase "it's all good, man". Jimmy first uses it while reselling prepaid phones on the street, a side business he starts with his token inheritance from his brother Chuck.
Lore & Background
By the fifth season Jimmy has fully embraced the Saul Goodman alias, telling Kim Wexler that it gives him an instant client base for a criminal law practice. When Kim tries to talk him out of practicing law as Saul, he indicates that it is necessary if he is to escape Chuck's shadow. After Howard Hamlin's death and Kim's departure, Jimmy has fully transformed into Saul Goodman by the time he meets Walter White in 2008.
