Szolnoki Olajbányász, often shortened to Olaj, is a professional basketball club from Szolnok, Hungary. The team plays in the Hungarian League and is considered one of the country’s most decorated sides, with nine national championships and ten Hungarian Cup victories to its name. Their home games are held at the Tiszaligeti Sportcsarnok.
Founded in 1959, the club grew into a powerhouse of Hungarian basketball. After earning promotion to the top division in 1989, Olaj went on to win four league titles and four cups. In 2012, the team reached the EuroChallenge Final Four, where they lost to Beşiktaş Milangaz. That same season, they were invited to join the Adriatic League. They won the Hungarian Cup again in 2014 and returned to the EuroChallenge Final Four that year, finishing fourth after losses to Triumph Lyubertsy and Royal Halı Gaziantep.
The club’s domestic honours include nine Hungarian League championships (1990–91, 2006–07, 2010–11, 2011–12, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2017–18, 2024–25) and ten Hungarian Cup titles (2002, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024). They have also been league runners-up four times and finished third twice. In European competitions, Olaj has participated in the EuroCup twice, the Champions League twice, the FIBA Europe Cup five times, the EuroChallenge four times, and the Korać Cup twice.
