Robin Clemens Benzing is a German professional basketball player who plays small forward for the Giessen 46ers of the ProA. He was born on 25 January 1989 and also represents the Germany national basketball team.

Professional career

Robin Benzing got his start in the German second division with TV Langen, where he played until 2009. A year earlier, he had committed to the University of Michigan by signing a letter of intent, but NCAA eligibility rules kept him from joining the Wolverines. He then moved up to the top German league, spending two seasons with Ratiopharm Ulm from 2009 to 2011, followed by four years at Bayern Munich. In mid-2015, he headed to Spain, inking a two-year contract with CAI Zaragoza.

After that stint, he came back to Germany in September 2017 on a three-year deal with S.Oliver Würzburg, where he put up 17.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game during the 2017-18 campaign. A short-term move followed: he signed a one-month contract with Beşiktaş that included an option for nine more months. He returned to Spain in July 2019 on a one-year agreement with Casademont Zaragoza, then re-upped with them in June 2020. In August 2021, he joined Fortitudo Bologna in Italy.

By November 2022, he was playing for Peñarol in Uruguay. For the 2023-24 season, Benzing was back in Germany, suiting up for the Giessen 46ers in the ProA.

German national team

Benzing played for the German under-18 and under-20 teams, appearing in the 2007 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship and the 2009 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, where he was the tournament's leading scorer with 22.2 points per game. He made his senior national team debut at EuroBasket 2009 and also played at EuroBasket 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and the 2010 FIBA World Championship. In 2021 he helped Germany qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics, scoring 13 points in the qualifying final against Brazil.
