Nico Brussino, born on March 2, 1993, is a professional basketball player with Argentine and Italian citizenship. He plays small forward for Zaragoza in Spain's Liga ACB and is a member of Argentina's senior national team.

Professional career

Nicolás Brussino kicked off his pro career with San Martín de Marcos Juárez, then moved to Regatas Corrientes in July 2012. Right before the 2012–13 season, doctors found he had a congenital heart condition—an abnormal electrical link between his atria and ventricles. Even with that issue, he suited up for 29 games with Corrientes, putting up 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest, and helped the squad claim the 2012–13 LNB title.

The next season, he boosted his averages to 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds across 55 games. In 2014–15, he again played 55 games, this time averaging 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He signed with Peñarol in August 2015 and had a strong 2015–16 campaign, averaging 14.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals in 59 outings.

Dallas Mavericks (2016–2017)

Brussino inked a deal with the Dallas Mavericks in July 2016. His NBA debut came on October 26, 2016, when he logged one assist in just 34 seconds of a 130–121 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers. On March 15, 2017, he scored a season-high 11 points—eight of them in the fourth quarter—and grabbed nine rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench during a 112–107 win over the Washington Wizards.

On April 4, 2017, he notched 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in a 98–87 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Throughout his rookie year, he also spent time with the Texas Legends in the NBA Development League. The Mavericks waived him on July 20, 2017.

Atlanta Hawks (2017)

Two days later, the Atlanta Hawks claimed Brussino off waivers. He appeared in just four games for Atlanta before being waived on December 8, 2017, and also played eight contests with the Erie BayHawks, the Hawks’ G League affiliate. On December 31, 2017, he signed with Spanish club Herbalife Gran Canaria for the remainder of the 2017–18 season. In July 2018, he agreed to a one-plus-one deal with Iberostar Tenerife of the Liga ACB.

Basket Zaragoza (2019–2021)

A year later, in July 2019, he signed a two-year contract with Basket Zaragoza, averaging 9.8 points and 4 rebounds in the 2019–20 season, and re-signed with the team in June 2020. He joined Herbalife Gran Canaria again in July 2021. Finally, on July 12, 2026, Brussino returned to Zaragoza on a two-season deal.

National team career

Brussino is a member of the senior Argentine national team. He won a silver medal at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship and also played at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, he won a silver medal and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In 2019, he participated in the team that won the Pan American gold medal in Lima. He was included in the Argentine squad for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where Argentina clinched the silver medal as runners-up to Spain. In 2022, he won the gold medal in the 2022 FIBA AmeriCup held in Recife, Brazil, serving as one of Argentina's small forwards.
