Overgrown Ruins

Jergal's ruined temple-crypt near the nautiloid crash site.

The Overgrown Ruins, the temple of Jergal on the Sword Coast, are a ruined temple-crypt in Baldur's Gate III dedicated to Jergal, the Lord of the Dead, one of few of its kind in Faerûn. Built into a cliff on the north bank of the River Chionthar near the border of Elturgard, the temple's ground level lies largely in ruin while its underground crypts remain relatively intact, guarded by undead priests of Jergal; behind the shrine's statue of Jergal a hidden crypt is the resting place of Withers. In 1492 DR a mind flayer nautiloid crashed near its entrance, and the survivor Shadowheart tried to search the ruins for supplies.
