Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are a pair of American superhero films from Marvel Studios, released through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. They serve as the sixth and seventh entries in the Avengers series, picking up after *Avengers: Endgame* (2019), and mark the 39th and 40th installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Anthony and Joe Russo direct both movies, with scripts from Michael Waldron, Stephen McFeely, and the writing duo Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The project was first announced in July 2022 as *Avengers: The Kang Dynasty* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*, intended to wrap up the MCU's Phase Six and the broader "Multiverse Saga." Destin Daniel Cretton was initially hired to direct *The Kang Dynasty*, with Jonathan Majors set to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror. Jeff Loveness came on as writer for that film in September 2022, and Waldron was tapped to write *Secret Wars* the following month. By November 2023, Cretton had left the project, Waldron took over writing duties on *The Kang Dynasty* as well, and Marvel began reconsidering the Kang storyline, partly due to Majors' legal troubles; Majors was fired in December 2023. In July 2024, Marvel announced the return of the Russo brothers as directors, McFeely as co-writer, Downey cast as the new villain Doctor Doom, and a new subtitle for the first film: *Doomsday*. McKenna and Sommers later joined to help refine the scripts.
Both films are being shot at Pinewood Studios in England. Filming for *Doomsday* is scheduled to run from April to September 2025, while *Secret Wars* is set to begin production in mid-2026. Jeffrey Ford and Matthew Schmidt are handling the editing, and Alan Silvestri is composing the score—all three have worked on previous MCU projects.
*Avengers: Doomsday* is slated for release on December 18, 2026, and *Avengers: Secret Wars* on December 17, 2027, both as part of Phase Six.
