History

Bud Miller founded the ASCoC in 1970 after a failed attempt to build a race track near Youngstown, Ohio led to the idea of a touring sprint car series. The series operated that year but was dormant in 1971 and 1972, then suspended operations after the 1973 season due to the oil crisis. It reformed in 1979 under new owner Bert Emick, who revived the All Star name in 1980 after losing rights to the MOSS sanctioning body. Emick ran the series until 2002, when Guy Webb took over. Joey Saldana set a series record with 18 wins in 1995. Webb sold the series to Tony Stewart in January 2015.

Tony Stewart ownership

Stewart became sole owner in 2015 after merging his group with the Renegade Sprints organization. Arctic Cat became title sponsor in January 2016. The series had 29 different winners in 2017, and Chad Kemenah won his sixth championship that year, tying Dale Blaney for most titles. Aaron Reutzel won nine races and the championship in 2018. MAVTV began broadcasting highlights in December 2018, and FloSports started live broadcasts of all races in 2020.
