ASA Late Model Series
American stock car series with a disputed ASA trademark.
The ASA Late Model Series was a stock car racing organization in the United States. It began in 2003 as the USPRO Cup Series, founded by Ron Varney, and was renamed after being purchased by the American Speed Association in 2004. Following financial difficulties that year, the series was sold back to its founders but kept the ASA name, and later expanded with regional touring series.

ASA naming dispute
In December 2007, Dennis Huth, leading Racing Speed Associates, filed a lawsuit against the ASA Late Model Series seeking to cancel its trademark registration. The ASA Late Model Series responded that the lawsuit was frivolous and without merit, and planned to countersue for damages. The naming dispute was settled on January 14, 2009, allowing both parties to keep the ASA name, but the ASA Late Model Series was required to adopt a new logo and publicly state it was not affiliated with the American Speed Association or ASA Racing.
On October 11, 2010, it was announced that a US District Court order signed on October 7, 2010, permanently barred Ron Varney, the ASA Late Model Series, LLC, and related parties from using the ASA or ASA Late Model Series brand for auto race events anywhere in the United States. The injunction was delivered at the 2010 Oktoberfest Race Weekend at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, forcing the removal of ASA decals from cars and the series trailer from the premises. The organization has not been active following the injunction.
