Lore & Background
The league title was clinched with a win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane on the Monday of the final week. On 8 May Arsenal met Liverpool at Wembley in the FA Cup final; all three goals came in extra time. Steve Heighway scored for Liverpool, George Graham equalised with a scrambled goal often credited to Eddie Kelly, and Charlie George's long-range shot won it 2–1. Earlier that season goals from John Radford and Ray Kennedy carried the attack, and Frank McLintock captained the side.
