Background
The game is set on the continent of Yggdra, where humans, ogres, giants, forest sprites, and other mythical creatures live. Peace reigned under the Holy King until a mysterious group called the Black Army appeared and conquered the land, killing the Holy King.
In response, one man formed the Volunteer Army to oppose the Black King and restore peace. The story follows Yuri, a swordsman and leader of the Volunteer Army, guided by the sprite Pirika to protect Phoena, a mysterious girl carrying the Chronicle—a book holding the world's history.
