Dry Kill Logic

Dry Kill Logic is an American heavy metal band from Westchester County, New York. They started in 1995, originally going by Hinge and later Hinge AD, and have put out three studio albums.

The band released their first EP, *Cause Moshing is Good Fun*, in 1997 on their own label, Psychodrama Records, two years after forming. A second EP, *Elemental Evil*, followed in 1998, also self-released. That six-track record helped them open for acts like Coal Chamber, Incubus, Anthrax, and System of a Down.

In 2000, Hinge signed with Roadrunner Records. The label forced a name change because a recording studio owned the rights to "Hinge." After briefly trying Hinge AD, the band settled on Dry Kill Logic when the studio threatened legal action over any use of "Hinge." The name came from a mixing console manual, referring to circuitry that mutes the dry, unprocessed audio signal. Their debut album, *The Darker Side of Nonsense*, came out on June 5, 2001, featuring Primer 55 members J-Sin and Bobby Burns on the track "Lionheart." The band toured heavily through 2001 and 2002 with acts like Fear Factory, Kittie, Ill Niño, Spineshank, Saliva, and Slayer, selling around 100,000 copies worldwide. Roadrunner wanted a more commercial sound for the next album, but the band was dropped in October 2002 after the label restructured. Around then, guitarist Scott Thompson left, and Jason Bozzi, formerly of Gargantua Soul, joined in 2003. As a bonus for the video game *MLB Slugfest 2003*, they recorded a song and music video loosely based on "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," titled "Riot at the Bat Rack."

Their second major album, *The Dead and Dreaming*, dropped on October 5, 2004, through Psychodrama Music Group with deals from Repossession Records and German label SPV Records. This arrangement let the band control their career while releasing worldwide at the same time. They toured for 15 straight months starting in 2004, beginning with Motörhead in Germany and moving to co-headlining tours with Hed PE and Drowning Pool, then getting picked by Dave Mustaine for the 2005 Gigantour arena tour. They also headlined two UK and European tours in 2006 and toured Australia with Fear Factory and Devildriver. On June 27, 2006, the band produced, designed, and directed their first DVD/EP, *The Magellan Complex*, as a lead-up to their next album.
