*Life of Dreams* was recorded in 1985 at Systems Two Studios in Brooklyn and released the next year on Combat Records. Produced by Norman Dunn, the album packed 16 tracks into under 33 minutes, featuring 158 punk and metal riffs, mixed guitar solos, frequent time changes, and Notaro’s gravelly vocals. Reviews were mixed. The cover art was by Sean Taggart, a New York artist known for flyers and album covers for bands like Agnostic Front, Carnivore, Prong, and Whiplash. The band shot videos for three songs from the album at CBGB in 1986, but only "Trapped" was commercially released; the other two, "Bullshit Society" and "Return to the Womb," later surfaced on YouTube. "Trapped" first appeared on a 1986 underground video compilation called *Hardcore*.
