Tom Gurl Four
American R&B quartet with one charting single.
TG4, also known as Tomgirls 4 Eva, was an American R&B group made up of four women: Keisha Henry, Davida Williams, Sevyn Streeter (who also went by Ambee), and Ashley Gallo. The group was put together by Chris Strokes, who also managed them, and they were signed to T.U.G. Entertainment. Strokes offered Sevyn the first spot in the T.U.G./A&M group after she performed as an opening act for B2K and IMX at a concert in Orlando, Florida in early 2001. The other three members joined after a series of successful auditions. The name TG4 stands for Tom Girls 4. Sevyn explained that they considered themselves four tom girls, noting that when a girl acts like a boy she is called a tomboy, but they act like guys while still loving being girls, so they are tom girls. Sevyn had previously tied for first place on Showtime at the Apollo when she was ten.
The group's most notable single was "Virginity," which reached number 88 on the US Billboard R&B chart in 2002. A second single, "2 Minutes," had a music video but did not appear on any Billboard chart. The group left their original label, and their album, Time for the New, was never released. After Davida Williams left to focus on acting, the remaining members renamed themselves Tomgirls 4 Eva and signed with Soul Chemistry, but the group disbanded soon after.
TG4 performed on Soul Train and joined the Scream II tour with Lil' Bow Wow and B2K. They also appeared in music videos for IMx's "Ain't No Need" and B2K's "Why I Love You."
After the group ended, Davida Williams pursued acting. Keisha Henry appeared on the CW reality show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Sevyn Streeter was discovered on MySpace by Rich Harrison and signed to his RichCraft label. In 2007, she signed a deal with Jive Records and RichCraft as part of Rich Harrison's girl group, RichGirl.
That group never released a full debut album, though work on a self-titled album began in 2009 with planned releases in 2010 and 2011. The album produced a promotional single, "24" featuring Bun B., and two official singles, "He Ain't wit Me Now (Tho)" and "Swagger Right." After failing to chart, the group released a mixtape titled Fall in Love with RichGirl on Valentine's Day 2011. RichGirl later disbanded as members pursued solo careers.
On March 21, 2012, Sevyn released a song called "Red Handed" and confirmed the group's disbandment, also revealing she had signed with Chris Brown's CBE imprint.
