Music career

RichGirl came together in 2007 with producer Rich Harrison, who signed the group to his Richcraft label alongside Jive Records. Lyndriette first met Harrison when she was 15 and signed to a production company; they stayed in touch, and when he got the idea for the group, he immediately thought of her. Christina "Brave" Williams was 16 when she met Harrison and joined his label as a solo artist before becoming a member. Amber "Sevyn" Streeter had been part of the Chris Stokes group TG4, signed to Interscope at 15, but that group broke up before putting out an album; Harrison later found her on MySpace and brought her onto Richcraft as Se7en.

Audra Simmons moved to Los Angeles to pursue a solo career and got into RichGirl through an open call. She recalled waiting tables during the day and singing at night when she learned about the group, adding that she was the only member found through that audition process. After forming, all four women moved in together in Atlanta. The group wrote many of the songs themselves and handled their own vocal arrangements.

Besides Harrison, they worked with Bryan-Michael Cox, The Underdogs, Dre & Vidal, and the duo KP and Malay. Tour, starting June 21 in New York.

Artistry

RichGirl blended R&B with hip-hop and pop, earning a reputation for their "powerful pipes." They often performed covers of songs like Bruno Mars's "Grenade" and Lloyd's "Lay It Down," focusing on mid-tempo tracks where members traded off melody and verse before coming together to harmonize on the chorus. FADER's Felipe Delerme praised the group for reviving the "Glam&B" era, while critics likened them to a "Voltron of sorts," highlighting each singer's individual talent.

The name RichGirl was meant to capture "a certain attitude and confidence, combined with individuality and talent that any girl might possess." Brave described their sound as "very honest," with every song telling a specific story. The group saw themselves as a mix of En Vogue and the Spice Girls, valuing individuality while functioning as a unit. SESAC's Dan Kimpel initially called their image "high-gloss."

To match their personalities, each member dressed differently. For the second single "Swagger Right," they released webisodes called "The Swagger Series," with Lyndriette's alter-ego Boomshika appearing in episode six.
