The broader shift toward semi-professional rosters across the league further eroded the club's competitive edge, and by 1991 the Grizzlies had been relegated from the top flight. The following years brought four consecutive relegations as the club underwent a painful generational turnover. Stabilisation finally arrived by 1995, with the team settling into the Bayernliga, Bavaria's state-level competition. A couple of solid seasons followed, but a significant player exodus in 1999 forced the club to withdraw from competition entirely for a year. The Grizzlies were compelled to restart at the very bottom of Bavarian football. Yet the squad showed remarkable resilience, posting an undefeated campaign in the state league during 2001 to earn promotion back to the Bayernliga. Since the early 2000s, the Grizzlies' fortunes have continued to wane, with chronic player shortages leaving the club unable to field a competitive squad for several seasons. The team's long absence from organised league play represented a stark contrast to the era when they had anchored the top of German football for nearly a decade. In 2015, the club finally returned to competitive league football, entering the Landesliga Bayern Nord, the fifth tier of the Bavarian pyramid. They finished second in their division that season but fell short in the semi-final contest for the Landesliga title, losing to the reserve squad of the Allgäu Comets. Despite the diminished scale of their current competition, the Grizzlies remain one of the three oldest American football clubs in Germany, sharing that distinction with the Düsseldorf Panther and the Munich Cowboys.
