In 1999, bassist/guitarist Philip 'Landphil' Hall coined the name 'Cannabis Corpse' with his brother Josh 'HallHammer' Hall. The original lineup had Landphil on vocals and John Gonzalez on guitar, but after Gonzalez moved to Hawaii, the band was put on hold until 2006, when Phil bought a multitrack recorder. The brothers, along with Andy 'Weedgrinder' Horn, recorded a demo that became 'Blunted at Birth', and they were soon signed as the first band to Forcefield Records, whose founders were personal friends.
Cannabis Corpse has released six LPs and two EPs over their career. They toured Europe in 2013 with Ghoul and signed to Season of Mist. In 2015, the band collaborated with Chris Barnes on Six Feet Under's album 'Crypt of the Devil', with Phil playing rhythm guitars and bass and writing the music, Josh on drums, and Brandon Ellis on lead guitar.
The band remains active, with no official announcement of disbandment. Hall continues to perform with Municipal Waste.
