My Bedbugs, an American musical comedy children’s television series, was created by Alex Greene and produced by GreeneStuff Inc. The show entered production in October 2003, premiered on WTVS on June 6, 2004, and later received national distribution through APT (American Public Television). After the FCC introduced new rules for children’s educational and informational programming on digital television, GreeneStuff distributed the series to 71% of digital stations across the United States.
In March 2007, a deal with Sky Angel was signed, followed by agreements with Trinity Broadcasting Network in May 2007 and LATV in June 2007, expanding the show’s reach to over 100 million homes in the U.S. and Canada, and eventually to more than 30 countries. A further milestone came in May 2007 with a deal from TVN, the largest independent Video-on-Demand provider, which made the series available on cable networks including AT&T, Comcast, Cox, WOW, and TiVo.
In Detroit, it became the second most viewed or downloaded children’s VOD program. The series ended on August 30, 2008, due to economic downturns. The 2012 film The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure is loosely based on the show.
