Premise
Ruben struggles to fit in at his new middle school after moving with his mother to live with his grandfather above the family bookstore. A ghost called Ghostwriter communicates through written messages and by manifesting fictional characters, visible only to the four main characters. As they befriend one another and learn teamwork, Ghostwriter sends them characters from stories whose themes relate to their own lives. In later seasons, a new ghostwriter selects three children he knew in life to help return a scroll named the Eloquent Peasant to Egypt, again bringing storybook characters to life.
