Resurrection, a fantasy drama on ABC, ran from March 2014 to January 2015. Based on Jason Mott's novel The Returned, the show follows a town where the dead return to life. ABC Studios and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment co-produced it, with Pitt among the executive producers. ABC cancelled the series after two seasons in May 2015.

Premise
In Arcadia, Missouri, the dead begin returning exactly as they were when they died. Eight-year-old Jacob Langston, who drowned in 1982, is discovered alive in China and brought home by an immigration agent against orders. His reappearance pushes his uncle, Sheriff Fred Langston, and his cousin Dr. Maggie Langston to uncover the truth. A second returnee, Caleb Richards, warns that many more are coming.
Development and production
In January 2013, ABC ordered the project to pilot status and brought in Charles McDougall as director. The title was changed to Forever in March 2013, then changed again after ABC ordered it to series in May 2013. ABC cancelled Resurrection after two seasons on May 7, 2015, citing low ratings. The series was high-rated in its first season but saw a big drop in its second. It was one of ABC's biggest cancellations along with Cristela and the Ioan Gruffudd drama Forever.
Broadcast
The Seven Network launched the series in Australia on March 25, 2014. Its debut became the top-rated series premiere in two years, pulling in 1.9 million viewers in mainland capital cities and 2.82 million nationwide. The second season moved to a 10:30 p.m. Sunday slot on February 22, 2015, and drew only 112,000 viewers, the show’s worst performance. New Zealand saw its first episode on TV2 on July 16, 2014. In Canada, Citytv carried the first season with simsubbing, and CTV handled later seasons. RTÉ Two aired it in Ireland during summer 2014. The UK’s Watch channel began broadcasting the show on August 18, 2014, and the second season followed on March 19, 2015.
