Plot
Government officer Richland visits a government facility on a remote Caribbean island. He follows Dr. Peniston into the facility, where head scientist Dr. Bishop shows projects including a shark-human hybrid that can adapt to any environment. The creature breaks free and kills Bishop. Richland orders Peniston to kill it, but Peniston traps it in a containment unit and dumps it in the sea. Twenty-five years later, marine biologist Dr. Chase and his assistant Tall Man find a pregnant great white shark trapped in Ben Mediera's nets; Chase sets it free. Mediera is eaten by the creature. Dr. Chase and Dr. Macy, along with Chase's son Max, arrive on the island. Max meets local kids, including Elizabeth, the chief's daughter. Mediera's body is found; police Chief Gibson asks Chase to inspect it. Chase says a great white is not the culprit and warns against hunting it. Chase and Macy search for the real culprit. Peniston, now insane and called "Werewolf" by locals, sees the empty containment unit and realizes Mediera was not killed by a shark. The kids take turns jumping from a cliff; the creature lurks below. Max and another boy, Kimo, jump; the creature kills Kimo, but Max escapes. The chief orders all fishermen to hunt the great white. Islanders accuse Chase and Macy of witchcraft. Chase, Macy, Max, and Tall Man find the creature, which attacks their boat, but they escape.
