Making and release

In June 2008, Toby Driver blogged about unreleased maudlin of the Well material and considered community-funding a free digital release.[3][4] On July 27, 2008, Driver announced that a donation from Dubé allowed recording of a new full-length album.[5][6] Driver stated that only two songs were "100% old motW material" and he would expand a dozen fragments into a hybrid of two compositional eras.[5][4] The band played a reunion show at The Stone in August 2015, announced by Greg Massi in his podcast.[2]

The reunion included the possibility of 2026 touring and opening the motW archives.[1] Given the band's modest audience, Driver pondered whether the available funds would suffice for the elevated expenses of production and mastering.[5]

What the cited sources add

A commenter on that post offered to pay the balance if donations fell short for one song.[4] Another commenter started a blog to help coordinate fan donations.[4] The July 2008 blog post comments included a fan asking about a Pelican/Torche tour slot.[6] Driver replied that funding for that tour fell through.[6]

The 2026 Sputnikmusic article stated the new album would carry on from the band's earlier duology.[1]
