The Beautiful (band)

History

The Beautiful's line-up consisted of Jonathan Lacey on vocals and guitar, Perry Bottke on bass, and Frank Ferrer on drums. The group signed to Giant Records, a Warner Bros. subsidiary, and issued a five-song, self-titled EP in September 1990, followed by a full-length album, Storybook, in May 1992, produced by John Fryer. The band received some media coverage, including a feature article in Rip Magazine and a video clip for the song "John Doe" that aired on the Headbangers Ball program on MTV. By 1993, the group split up.

Since 2006, Frank Ferrer has been a member of Guns N' Roses, replacing Bryan Mantia. He supplied drums on the songs "Chinese Democracy", "Better", "If the World", "There Was a Time" and "I.R.S." on their 2008 album Chinese Democracy, and toured throughout the world with the band. Before joining Guns N' Roses, Ferrer also played drums for acts including The Psychedelic Furs, Perry Farrell, Wyclef Jean and Tool.

In 2012, Lacey posted a YouTube update stating that Ferrer was in Guns N' Roses, Bottke was a father of a cellist, and Lacey himself fronted an RnB party/show band. An official Facebook page for the band was launched in March 2014. Later in 2014, Storybook ranked number two on a "Top 10 Underrated 90's Alternative Rock Albums" list at the Alternative Nation website. Ferrer remained a member of Guns N' Roses through 2025, including the Not in This Lifetime... Tour.
