History

10 Years were formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1999 with singer Mike Underdown, drummer Brian Vodinh, bassist Lewis Cosby, and guitarists Ryan Johnson and Matt Wantland. Underdown departed to pursue acting and form a new band, Courage, You Bastards, in Los Angeles; he was replaced by Jesse Hasek from local band deficit. Parks left in 2002, Cosby returned, and the band released the independent album Killing All That Holds You in 2004. Signed to Universal Records in 2005, they issued their major-label debut The Autumn Effect on August 16, 2005. The single "Wasteland" spent over twelve months on rock charts, reaching number one at active rock radio in December 2005 and number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in mid-February 2006. That summer, the band toured with Disturbed and Ill Niño; in fall 2005 they toured with Breaking Benjamin and Smile Empty Soul, followed by the Masters of Horror tour with Mudvayne and Sevendust. They opened for Korn and Mudvayne on Korn's See You on the Other Side tour and joined Korn and Deftones on the Family Values Tour starting late July 2006. In mid-2006 they toured Australia with Hatebreed, Disturbed, and Korn. The music video for "Wasteland", addressing human rights and addiction, received nominations for Best Direction and Best Art Direction at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. An acoustic EP was released on iTunes on March 27, 2006. On November 19, 2006, the band announced the title Division for their second album, recording beginning in late June 2007 after nearly a year of writing.
