Breakkaway (stylized in lowercase, formerly breakk.away) is an American alternative rock band based in New York City. The group formed in 2022 after its members—who originally met in high school the previous year—came together from Canada, Mexico, and France. Their first single, "I'll See You When the Night Comes," arrived in May 2023. In March 2026, the band signed with Epitaph Records and put out the single "Portrait Set on Fire," which was co-produced by George Lever, who has worked with Sleep Token. Another single, "Run Away with Me," followed on May 20, 2026.
Musically, Breakkaway has been described as alternative pop, alternative metal, and post-rock. Critics have compared them to acts like Pvris, Sleep Token, Spiritbox, Evanescence, and A Perfect Circle.
