Reception
Combat Flight Simulator proved a strong seller. By October 1999, it had earned $10.8 million from 260,708 copies sold in the United States, where it ranked as the 19th best-selling computer game for the first half of that year. Its performance against Jane's WWII Fighters helped end Electronic Arts' Jane's Combat Simulations line. Worldwide sales topped 450,000 units by June 2000. The game was a finalist for Computer Gaming World's 1998 Best Simulation award, but lost to European Air War.
