Westin Hills Psychiatric Hospital
The Springwood hospital where the last of the Elm Street children were kept, and where Freddy was conceived.
Westin Hills Psychiatric Hospital is the hospital in Springwood introduced in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). Kristen Parker is admitted there by her mother Elaine after Freddy Krueger makes a dream attack look like a suicide attempt, and is placed under the care of Dr. Neil Gordon alongside the other surviving Elm Street children, the teenagers whose parents burned Krueger to death. Nancy Thompson arrives as a new intern therapist and helps the patients use group hypnosis to discover their dream powers.
Years earlier Freddy's mother, Amanda Krueger, a young woman on the hospital staff, was accidentally locked inside with hundreds of mental patients over the holidays and raped, which is how Freddy came to be born. The hospital and its dream-suppressing drug Hypnocil return in Freddy vs. Jason (2003), where Springwood's adults have institutionalised anyone who dreams of Freddy there and prolonged use of the drug is shown to cause an irreversible coma, and in the comic Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors. The Royce Hall building at UCLA was used for the hospital's exteriors in Dream Warriors.
