Amanda Krueger
Freddy's mother: the nun Sister Mary Helena, whose spirit tells the living how to lay his bones to rest.
Amanda Krueger is Freddy Krueger's mother in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, played by Nan Martin in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) and by Beatrice Boepple in A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989). A nun who took the religious name Mary Helena, she was assigned to Westin Hills hospital, where she was accidentally locked in with hundreds of mental patients over the holidays and raped; in September 1942 she gave birth to Frederick Charles Krueger and gave him up for adoption.
After following her son's trial and release she bricked herself into a room in the tower of the hospital's abandoned psychiatric wing, where she died; her body was never found and her plot in Springwood Cemetery is empty. In Dream Warriors her spirit appears to Dr. Neil Gordon as an elderly nun and tells him that the only way to stop Freddy is to lay his bones to rest. In The Dream Child she returns in her young form; Freddy keeps her from telling Alice Johnson how to stop him, and once Alice's friend Yvonne frees her she uses Alice's unborn son Jacob and his power to revert Freddy to a child, absorbing him into herself. In the comic Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors, Jacob summons her to help defeat her son.
