Motorheads is a coming-of-age drama series from creator John A. Norris. Amazon Prime Video released all ten episodes on May 20, 2025, but canceled the show that August after a single season. The story centers on Logan Maddox, a former NASCAR driver played by Ryan Phillippe who now runs an auto body shop in Ironwood, Pennsylvania. Nathalie Kelley plays Samantha, an ER nurse who returns to her hometown with her teenage twins, Zac and Caitlyn.
Casting
Michael Cimino portrays Zac, who reluctantly leaves Brooklyn, while Melissa Collazo plays Caitlyn, a car enthusiast. Uriah Shelton appears as Curtis, a young mechanic and Caitlyn’s love interest, and Nicolas Cantu plays Marcel, a nerdy neighbor who becomes friends with the twins. Recurring roles include Josh Macqueen as Harris, an entitled popular teen and local street racing champion; Drake Rodger as Curtis’s older brother Ray; Mia Healey as Harris’s on-and-off girlfriend Alicia; Johnna Dias-Watson as Kiara, the mayor’s closeted daughter; and Deacon Phillippe as Christian Maddox, Logan’s brother seen in flashbacks from 17 years earlier as an unbeaten street racing legend.
Development
Other recurring cast members include Dylan Taylor, Paul Braunstein, Matt Lanter, Paul Popowich, Alex Paxton-Beesley, Jordan Dawson, Romeo Carere, Audrey Gerthoffer, Joseph Chiu, and Sophia Esperanza. Amazon Prime Video commissioned the series in November 2023. John A. Norris serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Jason Seagraves also executive producing. Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios produce, with Dana Brunetti, Keegan Rosenberger, and Jake Fuller as executive producers.
Ruben Fleischer was initially set to direct the pilot, but Neil Burger replaced him in March 2024 and also became an executive producer. Ryan Zaragoza is co-executive producer, and Waz and Jamie Jackson compose the score. Casting began with Phillippe, Kelley, Cimino, and Collazo. Uriah Shelton joined in December 2023, with Drake Rodger, Johnna Dias-Watson, Josh Macqueen, and Mia Healey in recurring roles.
Filming
Matt Lanter and Sophia Esperanza were cast in May 2024, and Nicolas Cantu was promoted to a main role in April 2025. Filming was originally set for July to November 2023 but was delayed by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Production started March 25, 2024, in Toronto, Canada, and continued in Hamilton, Ontario, including the Carlisle and Flamborough neighborhoods. On April 16, 2024, filming began in downtown Paris, Ontario, the first of five visits through July.
Additional locations included a Motopark in Chatsworth, Ontario; Penman’s Dam Park and Bean Park in Brant, Ontario; and the historic Blackfriars Street Bridge in London, Ontario. Filming wrapped on July 22, 2024. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a 78% approval rating from nine critic reviews. Metacritic gave a score of 58 out of 100 based on five critics, indicating mixed or average reception.
Reception
Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter called it sturdy, reliable entertainment, noting it is not life-changing but worth a proper spin. After cancellation, the series was being shopped to other networks.
