2011–12 Milwaukee Bucks season

Bucks finish ninth, miss playoffs by four games.

Last updated

The Milwaukee Bucks played their 44th NBA season in 2011–12. Michael Redd was absent from the opening day roster for the first time since the 1999–2000 campaign. The team posted a 31-35 record, finishing ninth in the Eastern Conference, four games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the final playoff spot.

Pre-season

The 2011 NBA lockout caused the cancellation of the programmed pre-season schedule and the first two weeks of the regular season. Once the lockout concluded, each team played a two-game pre-season. Milwaukee lost both games: 0–1 at Minnesota on December 17, and 0–2 at home against Minnesota on December 21.

Injuries and disciplinary actions

Center Kwame Brown, acquired via trade from the Golden State Warriors in January, underwent surgery for a torn pectoralis major muscle and missed the remainder of the regular season. Drew Gooden served a one-game suspension for a flagrant foul in the first regular-season game, missing the first home game. Stephen Jackson was suspended twice: once by the team for missing a bus to a morning shootaround before a game against the New York Knicks, and once by the league for verbal abuse of an official and failure to leave the court after a game against the Chicago Bulls. Larry Sanders received a two-game suspension for starting an altercation and failing to leave the court during a game against the Indiana Pacers.
