Career
The BBC1 series Doomwatch, created and co-written by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis, followed a government unit tackling technological and environmental threats. It aired for three seasons from 1970 to 1972, totaling 37 broadcast episodes of 50 minutes each, with one additional episode never shown. Pedler and Davis were involved only in the first two series. They later adapted the plot of the debut episode, "The Plastic Eaters," into their 1971 novel Mutant 59: The Plastic Eater.
Parapsychology
In his 1981 book Mind Over Matter, based on the TV series, Pedler made the case for psychic abilities like psychokinesis and remote viewing. He also suggested that the universe might show signs of an "intelligent and massively ordered design." The work faced criticism for scientific inaccuracies. Reviewer Georgina Ferry, a science writer, found both the book and the series riddled with errors and lacking objectivity, calling it "not good science, neither is it good television."
