Synopsis
The program's first season used highly formularized plays aimed at a mass audience. The following season shifted focus to character development, with Edward B. Roberts working with writers nationwide; by mid-November 1952 he had spoken to 3,000 writers and reviewed 20,000 scripts, paying $750 per accepted script. The series featured original dramas by noted writers, occasionally comedies, and guidelines forbade violence. On CBS, Cold War topics like espionage, Radio Free Europe, and escapes from East Germany were emphasized.
International broadcast and streaming
Repeats continued on Telecapri Sport until January 17, 2018, and on the same network until April 12, 2024. In Italy it is known as "Teatro di Armstrong.
