WWE 2K24

Incremental improvements to the WWE 2K franchise.

WWE 2K24

WWE 2K24 is a professional wrestling video game released in 2024, developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K. It marks the twenty-fourth installment in the WWE video game series, the tenth under the WWE 2K label, and follows WWE 2K23. The game launched on March 8, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Critics gave it generally favorable reviews, noting that it offered mostly incremental tweaks and refinements compared to its predecessor.

Gameplay blends arcade-style action with simulation wrestling, bringing back gimmick matches like ambulance, casket, gauntlet, and special guest referee bouts. The Backstage Brawl mode now includes a wider range of weapons and supports four-player multiplayer. New combat additions include Super Finishers—which let players expend all three finisher charges at once for a more powerful move—the ability to dive onto groups of opponents, and new weapon types like microphones and trash cans.

The Showcase mode, titled "Showcase... of the Immortals," focuses on iconic WrestleMania matches, from Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage at WrestleMania III for the Intercontinental Championship to Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It recreates arenas such as the WrestleMania 39 venue and culminates with the Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes match from WrestleMania 39, featuring all showcased superstars to crown a "Champion of WrestleMania." The mode mixes archive footage with gameplay and includes narration from performers like Hulk Hogan, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes, hosted by Corey Graves. In-ring cutscenes use recordings from ring announcers Mike Rome and Samantha Irvin (the latter new to the series, particularly for WrestleMania 39 matches), with Alicia Taylor also joining as a new ring announcer.

MyGM mode builds on WWE 2K23, adding features like purchasing permanent production upgrades, scouting talent, and making trade offers between brands after events. It introduces four new managers—Paul Heyman, Ted DiBiase, Teddy Long, and William Regal—and a new brand, ECW, which lacks women's division championships due to ECW's historical absence of a women's division. MyUniverse mode gains additional options, including more run-in types, double title matches, and loser leaves town matches.

Reader's Guide

WWE 2K24 is significant as the successor to WWE 2K23, released on March 8, 2024, and followed by WWE 2K25 on March 14, 2025. The game was announced in May 2023 during a Take-Two Interactive earnings call and officially on January 22, 2024. Cody Rhodes was the cover star of the standard edition, while Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair were cover stars of the deluxe edition. A '40 Years of WrestleMania' edition featured a collage of current and past WWE performers. The game received generally favorable reviews on Metacritic and a 'strong' rating on OpenCritic. Critics noted incremental improvements, including Super Finishers, AI improvements, and the return of gimmick matches, but also pointed out issues with hair physics, top rope animations, and the Showcase mode's pacing. The game was nominated for 'Best Sports / Racing Game' at The Game Awards 2024. A Bray Wyatt-themed DLC was released in October 2024 in tribute to his death earlier that year, and the game was re-issued as the 'Bray Wyatt Edition'. Online servers were discontinued on March 31, 2026.
