Gameplay

Like its predecessor, WWF In Your House is heavily influenced by Mortal Kombat rather than being a conventional wrestling game. It uses digitized sprites and features unrealistic, magical moves and taunts. Finishing moves are performed before the final pin. Each wrestler has a personalized stage, such as a nightclub for Shawn Michaels or a crypt for The Undertaker. The 10 playable wrestlers include Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Goldust, Ahmed Johnson, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Vader, and Ultimate Warrior, who was fired before release due to contract disputes.

Reception

WWF In Your House was a low-profile release, largely ignored by critics. Acclaim Entertainment was experiencing financial losses, layoffs, and an SEC investigation at the time, and focused on Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. GamePro reviewed only the PlayStation version, calling it a title full of promise that ultimately gets pinned, criticizing that matches end too quickly and comparing it unfavorably to Power Move Pro Wrestling. Jeff Kitts of GameSpot gave the PlayStation version a 5.9 out of 10, saying the action is solid but overly derivative of Mortal Kombat and that modes lack variety. Jeff Gerstmann gave the Saturn version a 4.5 out of 10, calling it a rehash. Both GamePro and Gerstmann criticized the button-mashing gameplay and its resemblance to a fighting game. Chris Hudak gave the DOS version a 5.6 out of 10, ridiculing the wrestling concept.
