History

The club was established in 2015 when ACF Fiorentina acquired the Serie A license of the existing women's club A.C.F. Firenze. Sandro Mencucci, then CEO of ACF Fiorentina, became the first president of Fiorentina Women's FC. In the 2016–17 season, the team won both the Serie A championship and the Coppa Italia, securing the club's first scudetto since 1969 and the first Serie A title under owner Andrea Della Valle. On 17 June 2017, Fiorentina achieved their first double.

The following season, they retained the Coppa Italia with a 3–1 win over Brescia. The club qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 2017–18, 2018–19, and 2019–20. On 6 June 2019, the club was purchased by Italian-American businessman Rocco Commisso alongside ACF Fiorentina. In 2019–20, the team qualified for the 2020–21 Champions League.

On 13 July 2020, SSD Fiorentina Women's Football Club was absorbed by Fiorentina SpA as ACF Fiorentina Femminile. Coach Antonio Cincotta left after six seasons in summer 2021, replaced by Patrizia Panico during a transitional season focused on avoiding relegation. For 2023–24, Sebastián de la Fuente became coach; the team finished third in Serie A and lost the Coppa Italia final on penalties to Roma. After four years, they qualified for the 2024–25 Champions League but did not reach the group stage.
