Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. Development Squad and Academy

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Development Squad, also known as the Under-23s, plays in Division 2 of the Premier League 2. The club earned a spot in this competition because its academy holds Category 1 status. While the league is meant for players aged 23 or younger, the team can include up to three overage players. Jamie Collins manages the squad, and home matches are usually held at Kidderminster Harriers' Aggborough stadium, though some games take place at Molineux. Over the last two seasons, this side has served as a route to the first team, with players like Hugo Bueno and Mateus Mané moving up from the Under-23s.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy, also a Category 1 facility, has developed notable graduates such as internationals Robbie Keane and Joleon Lescott. Other academy products, including current first-team player Hugo Bueno, have gone on to play for Wolves. The Under-18s are led by head coach James McPike and train at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground.

The Michael Bristow Trophy is awarded annually to the Academy Scholar of the Year. Named after lifelong Wolves supporter Mike Bristow, who died in 2008, the trophy was donated to the club by Keith Brown. It is a sterling silver cup with the winners' names engraved beneath it, and it is kept in the trophy room at Molineux. The presentation usually happens on the pitch during one of the final first-team home games of the season, made by Keith Brown, Hazel Bristow, and Matt Bristow. The winner receives an engraved trophy donated by Keith Brown or Hazel Bristow.
