By the 2019–20 World Cup season, he had become the most successful male sprinter in World Cup history by individual wins and set a record for the most overall sprint titles, with four. He is also the most successful male overall race winner in the competition's history. At his first Olympics, the 2018 Winter Games, Klæbo won three gold medals. As of the 2022 Winter Olympics, he has five Olympic medals, three of them gold.
