Jordie Benn began his professional career in the ECHL with the Victoria Salmon Kings after forgoing a collegiate commitment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He worked his way up through the Dallas Stars' minor-league affiliates, signing his first NHL contract with the Stars in July 2011. Benn made his NHL debut on January 3, 2012, and recorded his first point on a goal assisted by his brother Jamie. He remained with the Stars until February 2017, when he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens for Greg Pateryn and a fourth-round draft pick. Benn later signed with the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent in July 2019, then was dealt to the Winnipeg Jets at the 2021 trade deadline. With the Jets, he competed for playing time with Logan Stanley and Ville Heinola, registering one assist in eight regular-season games and appearing in three playoff contests before the team's second-round loss to the Canadiens. He subsequently played for the Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs, and finished his career with Brynäs IF in Sweden's second-tier league, retiring in September 2024.
