Dino Ranch, a Canadian animated series born from the creative vision of Matthew Fernandes and his studio Industrial Brothers, constructs a vivid world where the rugged spirit of the Wild West collides with the prehistoric era. In this setting, the Cassidy family operates a fully functional, self-sustaining ranch that doubles as a sanctuary for dinosaurs, blending daily agricultural life with the ongoing care of enormous creatures. Humans and dinosaurs coexist as natural neighbors, with dinosaurs serving as working partners, loyal companions, and medical patients rather than threats. The show first aired in early 2021, landing on CBC in Canada on January 16 and Disney Junior in the United States two days later, before finding a streaming home on Disney+ in June. Its run stretched across three seasons, with the second premiering in mid-2022 and the third and final season arriving in September 2023. The franchise's momentum carried forward with the 2025 release of a spin-off titled Dino Ranch: Island Explorers, expanding the universe beyond the original ranch.

The Cassidy Family and Their Dino Partners

At the heart of the series stands the Cassidy household, a tight-knit unit of five humans and their dinosaur companions. Bo, the father known affectionately as "Pa," is a seasoned rancher who manages the dino herds alongside Biscuit, a towering Tyrannosaurus who holds the title of lead dinosaur on the property. His wife Jane, called "Ma," serves as the ranch's head dino doctor and oversees the Hatchery with the help of her Parasaurolophus, Quack. Min, the only girl in the trio, trains as a dino-doctor and partners with the gentle Brontosaurus Clover and the Thalassodromeus Cloud. Miguel, the youngest, is a tinkerer and inventor whose best friend is the powerful Triceratops Tango, supported in the skies by the Tapejara Twister.

Rivals, Antagonists, and the Wider World

The Cassidy Ranch does not exist in a vacuum; its world is populated by colorful rivals and recurring allies who keep the narrative dynamic. The Tinhorn Trio, a group of raptor-riding siblings, serves as the primary antagonistic force. Clara, the self-proclaimed leader, orchestrates mischievous schemes ranging from pranks to stealing a wild T-Rex egg. Her brother Ike constantly tests her authority, while the youngest, Ogie, follows along with their schemes but harbors a softer conscience that occasionally leads him to aid the Dino Ranchers. Another recurring troublemaker is Sonny the Kid, a self-styled dino rustling mastermind who admires dinosaurs so deeply that he stages elaborate heists simply to ride them, despite being a notoriously poor rider. On the ally side, Tara Dacktle and her father Zachary operate the Dino Airport, with Tara serving as a bold Pterodactyl flyer and her massive Pterodactyl Wilbur transporting the ranch crew through the air when aerial rescue is needed.

Dino Ranch's reach extended well beyond its Canadian and American home markets. Within Canada, the series aired on CBC Television and its streaming platform CBC Gem, while in the United States it ran on Disney Junior and the DisneyNow app before migrating to Disney+ in June 2021. International sales agreements brought the show to broadcasters across Europe, including Super RTL and Toggo Plus in Germany, Gulli and TiJi in France, NRK in Norway, YLE in Finland, Sveriges Television in Sweden, Croatian Radiotelevision, Telewizja Polska in Poland, and DR in Denmark. The series also landed on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, with UK broadcast debuts on Tiny Pop in 2022 and Cartoonito in Italy. On the merchandise front, Florida-based Jazwares serves as the global master toy partner, while Scholastic Corporation holds rights to English-language consumer products such as readers, sticker story books, activity books, and audio books. In August 2021, Boat Rocker announced additional licensing deals with Baby Boom Consumer Products, High Point Design, Kurt S. Adler, Rubies, and Kennedy Publishing.
