Krolia is a Galra warrior and the mother of Keith, one of the five Paladins who pilot Voltron. For years, she operated in secret as a key member of the Blade of Marmora, a rebel group fighting against the oppressive Galra Empire. Her connection to the main story remains hidden until season five, when her identity is finally revealed to the team. Unlike many characters defined by their role within Voltron itself, Krolia represents the resistance that existed in the shadows long before the Paladins reunited the Lions.

Krolia's history is deeply tied to the Galra Empire's internal conflict. She is the mother of Keith, who discovers his own Galra heritage during season two when a knife links him to the Blade of Marmora. This revelation strains Allura's trust in Keith temporarily, as she learns he has Galra blood from his maternal side. Krolia herself is revealed at the end of season five when Keith is reunited with her. She had been operating as a key member of the Blade of Marmora, fighting Zarkon from within the enemy ranks.
