Overview
The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection brings together the complete trilogy of the Star Force series, including the original Mega Man Star Force from 2006, its 2007 sequel Mega Man Star Force 2, and Mega Man Star Force 3 from 2008. Since each game originally launched in multiple versions, the collection includes all of them, resulting in a total of seven playable titles. To accommodate a single screen, the original dual-screen setup has been reworked: the display now switches between the two screens either automatically at key moments or manually when the player presses a button. Users can also adjust the screen layout and apply a smoothing filter. Several new options help make the games more accessible, including an auto-save feature, the ability to control how often enemies appear, and settings that multiply Mega Man’s defense and damage output. Online play allows players to trade cards and compete in ranked or casual battles, though cross-platform play is not available. Each game supports a friends list of up to 100 players, modeled after the series’ Brother Band system. The collection also grants access to bonus cards that were originally only obtainable through special events or toys, including crossover content from Konami’s Lunar Knights that was removed from the English version of the first Star Force game. Extra features include an art gallery and a music player, where players can switch between the original soundtracks and newly rearranged versions of every track, using either in gameplay or just for listening. New voiceovers in both Japanese and English have been added, with the anime series’ cast returning to reprise their roles. As in the Battle Network Legacy Collection, Star Force Mega Man appears on the main menu as an interactive navigator character.
Release
Capcom revealed the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection on September 12, 2025, as part of a Japanese Nintendo Direct. It launched on March 27, 2026, across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, marking the first Legacy Collection to appear on the latter two platforms. To promote the release, Capcom temporarily brought back the Mega Man Star Force anime on its streaming channels. Pre-ordering the collection granted free DLC including four extra music arrangements for the music player and Geo Stelar and Omega-Xis as alternate menu navigators; this pack later became available for purchase on June 26. Paid DLC featuring Sonia Strumm and Luna Platz as navigators was offered at launch. A separate free DLC pack arrived on April 23, adding 43 music tracks from the Mega Man Battle Network series to the music player.
