Reception
Critics generally liked Turnip Boy Robs a Bank on PC and Xbox One, according to Metacritic, but the Nintendo Switch version got a more mixed reception. OpenCritic found that three-quarters of reviewers recommended it. IGN highlighted the combat and the dense, lively world as major steps forward from the first game. Shacknews praised the roguelike structure and how it kept the original’s look and humor. Rock Paper Shotgun thought it wasn’t as sharp or focused as Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, but appreciated the gameplay tweaks. PC Gamer enjoyed the jokes and mechanics, though they found the experience too brief. The Switch version drew criticism for technical issues. Nintendo World Report’s Jordan Rudek noticed frequent framerate dips in the bank’s busier sections. TouchArcade’s Shaun Musgrave reported similar problems, saying they made the game tough to recommend on Switch despite its general appeal. Nintendo Life’s Ollie Reynolds advised skipping the Switch version because of performance, but said it would be an easy pick if those issues get fixed.
